We take you through the air brakes and general knowledge pretest. This will test your knowledge so that we can work on where your lacking. We walk you through the pre trip inspection. We will explain the different types of transmissions out there and teach you how to shift them these are the 10,13,15,&18 speed transmissions. You get hands on training. , you will learn how to navigate in the pier's find your load, check in and return the load, you will learn how to hook and unhook a trailer, how to access a hill prior to starting the climb, how to safely shift and downshift going up and down hills as well as in turns.

School Attendance Policy

During training you are expected to be present for 80% or more of the training course, and not be absent for more than 2 days.

If you are absent for more than 2 days, you will be placed in the next available training class which will extend your initial graduation date.

Students must be on time to class, if more than 10 min. late he/she will be marked absent for the day and it will count toward your total absent days. Contact the office or instructor if you must miss any days of training for any reason at (808) 217-0909 or (808) 657-4025

There will be times when class will be delayed due to the truck not being back on time due to a student in training (BTW). We are a working school; we are different from other schools which means once we feel comfortable with your shifting, we then take you out to work with us and give you real world experience where you get to handle the truck and feel the weight with an instructor by your side.

Placement Assistance

Placement assistance is provided. However, Hawaii Trucking & Transportation DOES NOT & CANNOT or GUARANTEE employment nor level of income or wadge rate to any student or graduate.

Basic Driving Skills

Pre Trip - Hands on training - Skills Test - Btw - Class A

Here you learn the skills you need to be confident to get a job. We'll teach you how to do a proper pretrip take you through a range of skills, as well as the btw portion. We give you seat time as you will be working with us 3 days a week once you are able to shift the truck, we also assist you with job placement.

If all you need is the test prep. Class work taking you through the general knowledge, air brakes & Combination pre test.

Annual Driver Check Ride

We ride with your driver and submit a report to your company for your driver DOT file and insurance

Classes run (90 Hrs.) 30 days, 3 to 4 days a week 2 to 3 Hrs. a day we try to work with the student's schedule. There is no extra charge if you do not complete in 30 days.
